Crystal grids are beautiful arrangements of crystals that help focus energy and intention.

Before we begin, I want to share the most important aspect of crystal grids for beginners or advanced practitioners.

Don’t Compare Your Grid To Others

A quick search of Instagram or Pinterest for crystal grids, you will quickly find a world of beautiful and aesthetically pleasing arrangements of crystals. But, honestly, the amount of crystals in these layouts can be simply overwhelming.

I have been collecting crystals for years and my collection is not even big enough for some of the elaborate crystal grids that I have seen on the internet.

You do not need a crystal conventions worth of stones in order to make effective grids. The title image is a grid I made many moons ago – it is simple with only a few crystals. I have made crystals grids like this one with only one center stone and 3 accompaning stones. This was a super effective grid and did exactly what I wanted it to do.

There are so many different ways to lay out crystal grids – no way is right or wrong.

Do that works for you – as simple or complex as you desire.

The energy and intention you put into it is far more importance than its aesthetic value.

Crystal Grids For Beginners

So let’s begin.

Crystal grids can be overwhelming when you just look at them, so let’s break down crystal grids for beginners.

What is a crystal grid?

A crystal grid is an alignment of crystals or stones which are used to focus energy and intention.

By aligning the crystals together, they can work together to amplify your intention in a syergistics way.

The stones and the grid itself are charged with intention as per the users desires.

What crystals do I use?

The crystals and stones you choose to you will depend on your purpose. If you are new to crystals, check out my must have crystals for beginners article where I share some great crystals to start with and why you would want those stones.

In my personal practice, I like to use a large center stone and then supporting stones.

The center stone should correspond to your intention.

  • rose quartz for love
  • amethyst for medication
  • black tourmaline for protection
  • pyrite for wealth

These are just some examples to get you started.

The supporting stones are used to amplify or complement the energy of the center stone. Clear quartz is great for amplifying energy but any stone can be used.

How do I make a crystal grid?

Making crystal grids can be as simple or complex as you desire but can easily be broken down into simple steps.

Step 1: Set Your Intention

What do you want this grid to accomplish or help with? Why are you making it?

Step 2: Choose Your Crystals

Your intention with determine the crystals you choose for your grid. There is no right or wrong crystal selection, trust your intuition and allow yourself to be energetically aware of what the crystals are telling you during this process.

Sometimes a book might say a crystals is good for what you want to do, but if it doesn’t feel right in the circumstance than trust that instinct. The opposite is also true.

I highly recommend using one larger crystal in the center of your grid to help focus your energy and intention. It is a stone to anchor the energy of the grid. This makes crystal grids easier for beginners, but as you advance in your skill you may choose a different path. The entire grid can be of stones that are the same size and work in unison with each other instead of supporting a center stone.

You can also use rocks from the garden, flower petal or herbs, trinkets or sigils within your grid to accompany your crystals.

Step 3: Pick Your Layout

There are many crystal grid layouts online that are based on sacred geometry. If you are not familiar with sacred geometry or are not drawn to those layouts, do not fret.

You can also use numerology to select the number of crystals or items you choose to use. You can also just trust your gut and place the stones according to your intuition. Do what feels right to you.

I find inspiration for grids all over the natural world – from snowflakes to contestations.

The layout of your grid will depend on your intention, the number of crystals you want to use, and also how you want it to look. Elaborate or simple, the intention behind the placement of your stones is more important than anything else.

If your placement makes sense to you, that is what it is important.

Step 4: Actiate Your Grid

This step will look different for everyone.

There are many different ways to activate your grid.

  • meditate on your intention while focusing on your grid.
  • using a wand to connect the stones energetically.
  • speak your intention as you complete your grid.
  • hold your hands over your grid and focus on your intention.

Beginner Friendly Crystal Grid Explanation

The grid above is one I made for a friend who was wanting help with her love life (made with permission, of course). My intention behind this was to help her find love for herself and attract the love of someone else.

The center stone is a large rose quartz, a crystal known for its love and romance properties.

Radiating out from the center stone are 5 aura quartz positioned with the pink side towards the rose quartz and the blue away. I chose the number 5 because it is a sensual number – associated with the 5 senses. It is also associated with freedom, adventure, and life changes. I positioned the stones as I did with the pink to connect with the colour of the rose quartz and the blue surrounding it to symbolize peace and tranquility within the relationship.

Between the aura quartz are 5 polished rose quartz. There are also 5 polished rose quartz at the tips of the aura quartz. Together, these add up to the number 10 – a number signifying completion and attainment of wholeness.

Between the exterior rose quartz is clear quartz. These crystals are here to amplify the energy and connect the circle (not a necessity but something I felt drawn to do for this grid).

Enjoy making crystal grids!

The most important tip I have for anyone wanting to making crystal grids is to enjoy the process.

You do not want to feel stressed or overwhelmed when making your grid as that is the energy that you may amplify.

This should be an enjoyable experience.

Take a deep breath, relax, have you.

Its not as hard as it looks.

I believe in you.

Love, light, and happiness to you all.
Have a fantastic day.
